Hello Golfers!

Hopefully you are getting to play plenty

of golf at the moment. The course is in good

shape and although as I write this it is blowing

a hoolie outside, the weather, although

not ideal, still allows for some enjoyable golf.

I am off on the Biennial club trip to play

London Scottish GC who play on Wimbledon common

this weekend. So, although I wont see you I hope

you have a succesful weekend on the links.

I hope you enjoy this weeks newsletter.....

Competition Results.

On Saturday we had a Texas scramble

competition. This format is loved by many

and loathed by a few but withg 47 teams

taking part it was a popular competition

played in some sunny though slightly windy

conditions.

I always say that a Texas scramble gives the

average golfer an idea of how a top tour professional

would score when playing a course under 6500 yards

(played from the yellow tees) and without the severe

rough that you get on tour.

The winning scores however, would have even

had Rory McIlroy begging for mercy. The best

score, which came from the trio of Chris Brown,

Alison Page & Dereck Downing was a magnificent

58.8 nett (using 1/6 of the combined handicap)

Chris Brown part of the winning team!

This was good enough to win by 1.1 shots. This

may not sound like a huge margin of victory

but I have seen 1 shot cover the top 5 scores

in these competitions before.

Well done to all of the prize winners.

New Shoes!!!

If you are in the market for a new pair of shoes

you may be a bit overawed by the vast selection

on offer today. So here is a list of some of the best

shoes on the market and what they can do for you.

All shoes are leather and have a waterproof guarantee.

I have concentrated on premium shoes in this

article. All of the shoes mentioned have similar

characteristics in less expensive models.

See the shop for more options.....

Adidas:

The top shoe from adidas which you will see many

tour pros wearing is the tour 360 shoe. This gives

great comfort as well as massive support and stability.

The unique ATV sole flexes with your feet and

is also designed to keep your feet stable when

swinging giving better balance. This style of shoe

was first designed by Hi-tec which was worn by

Padraig Harrington when he won all 3 of his majors.

Since he changed shoes he has gone off the boil.

Coincidence????

A great shoe for the serious player. And with a range

of daring coulours you need to be a good player

to wear them!

Foot Joy.

The top 2 shoes from FJ are the FJ sport and the

Dry Joy. The sports are really lightweight and

encorporate the Boa fastening system instead

of laces. These make the whole shoe fit better

around your foot giving total support and flexibility.

Another massive plus is that if you are like me

and kick your shoes off without unfastening the

laces, this boa system needs just 1 click and

they are undone!

Dry Joys.

Foot Joys best selling premium waterproof shoe

for the past 15 years is still a firm favourite with

all golfers. These are tremendous shoes that

encorporate the finest leather uppers with a

'Optiflex sole'

These shoes mould to your feet and after a

couple of rounds will feel like slippers whilst still

giving you great support

Contour series.

The contour shoe is one of our best sellers.

The simple reason for this is that they are

SOOOOOOOO comfortable as soon as you

put them on the fist time. They are a wider shoe

and encorporate the softest leather available.

If you have toruble with your feet these are the

shoes to go for. You wont beleive how comfortable

they are stright out of the box!

Egg Head!

The eagle eyed of you may have spotted an

RND memebr last week on the popular TV

quiz show Eggheads.

The show pitts a team of keen quiz goers against

5 of the contries best and most succesful quiz

contestants.

The team of 5 (including RND member John Mounce)

who regularly compete in the monthly quiz night here at

the golf club did very well. They managed to knock

out 3 of the 5 eggheads in their 1 on 1 matches

but unfortunately just lost out on the £1000 prize

in the final round by 1 point.

Bay in 2008

Well done John. A single handicap quizzer as

well as a single handicap golfer!

Mikes tip of the week

Many of us struggle to do some, if any, practice

at all. However I have had a little time this week

to practice my putting and It is amazing how

quickly your putting improves with a little time

dedicated to it on the practice green.

With just 1 hours putting practice done over 3 days

I feel my putting has improved by about 3 shots

over 18 holes. This is obviously going to help my

scoring but it has also spread confidence through

the rest of my game. Because I know my putting can

make up for the odd errant shot, it takes the presure

off having to hit every green.

So get out there and practice your putting if you can.

As it comes good you will be surprised how it helps the

rest of your game!

Good Luck & Happy golfing
