I hope this finds you all well and that you are looking forward to some form of normality returning soon.

Golf / Tee time booking

General play tee bookings will open at 7 am, 14 days in advance. i.e., you can book on Monday 15th March to play on Monday 29th March and so on.

To be considerate to all members you are only permitted to pre-book 2 rounds (not including competitions) per 7 days, on a rolling week. All names must be added to the start sheet.

Spare, daily tee times may be booked on the day.

No more visitor bookings will be taken until 1st May. Members may invite their guests to play but all green fees must be paid in advance by calling the office. If booked to play before 12th April.

Both par 3-courses will re-open on the 29th of March, no tee booking required.

When play returns please very patient with the General Public. They have had three months of walking where ever they want.

Members-only tee times have increased for 2021 too;

Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

7 to 10am & 12.30 to 13.45

Tuesday & Thursday

7 to 11.30am & 15.30 to 16.30

Saturday

 7 to 13.30

Any existing visitor bookings within these times will be honored.

Covid rules

Please keep to the covid restriction of 2-meters apart.

Do not touch the flags.

Please use the hand sanitizer provided, situated outside the front clubhouse door.

Preferred lies in bunkers only.

 

Golf Insurance included within the membership – exerts from the policy referring to members cover can be found here

Please note, the insurance no-longer covers the hole-in-one claims. However, the Committee has decided to self-insure, any members getting a hole-in-one in any club competitions /match will have £50 to spend at the bar.

Competitions

Scorecards for the Easter competitions will be printed in advance, each competitor will need to collect his/her scorecard from the boxes outside of the starters hut on the first tee.

All completed scorecards must be returned through the clubhouse letterbox.

Scores can also be entered via the use of the Intelligent golf app which is now free to download.

If you use the app you must still fill out a scorecard and return that card.

Please remember we are using the new handicap system which gives you 95% of your handicap for medal play. Slope rating boards and competition allowance boards are situated by the first tee.

We won’t be running any two’s sweep competition until the shop re-opens on 12th April.

The David Lloyd Salver scheduled for March has been moved to Saturday 24th April.

Entries open on Friday 9th April at the new time of 18.45

The rest of the 2021 diary remains the same.

A reminder that all weekend competitions now open for entries 15/16 days in advance at 18.45.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse/locker rooms/indoor net and Pro’s shop will remain closed until Monday 12th April.

If you need to retrieve your golf equipment from your locker, please call the office to arrange an appropriate time.

Membership joining fee

We currently have a waiting list for Country Membership and Full Residential Membership for men over 35.

From 1st April a joining fee of £100 for Residential Membership and £50 for Country Membership will be required to join the waiting list.

Mr. John Phillips

It is with sadness I finish this newsletter by reporting the passing of John Phillips.

John had been a member for over 70 years, Past Committee Member, Chairman, President, Trustee, and organizer of the Club Centenary in 1964.

John was made an Honorary Member in the 1980's

He celebrated his 100th birthday in September 2020.

John was an accomplished golfer with his name appearing on many Honours Boards.

He also represented Devon golf and was made County Captain.

He was a character not to be forgotten.
