On Monday 11th March the North Devon Vets League was resurrected with the first round being played at RND. On a beautifully sunny, if rather breezy day seven players each from RND, Holsworthy, Saunton and Torrington teed off on a journey towards the final to be held in August against the winner of a second group comprising Ilfracombe, Mortehoe, Libbaton and Portmore. Royal North Devon sent two teams to Holsworthy for the NDL 3 ball team event. Team A consisting of captain Mark Luscombe, Ethan Jeffery and Kevin Rowe fared okay with 65 points with birdie machine Mark Luscombe scoring most of them. Team B consisting of Neil Armstrong, Shaun Loze and Andrew James fared better with a respectable 73 points and would have pushed the leaders if they played the par 3’s better.

Yesterday the Sheelah Creasy team of ladies from RND travelled to Holsworthy to play in the quarter-finals at Holsworthy. This is a matchplay competition for handicaps 21 and above.  The weather was horrendous with gales and driving rain. RND were drawn against Teignmouth and despite a sterling effort from the ladies they narrowly lost the match 3/4.
