Our Ladies Still Cup team unfortunately lost their semi-final match against East Devon at Churston on Thursday 9th September. The team put up a brave fight, but with many of the eligible players not being available it was a very tall order to win the tie. RND welcomed the golfers from Weston super Mare Golf Club on Sunday for the annual fixture. With 12 golfers from each club and the course and weather as good as it gets, the morning matches began with a greensomes format. RND took the spoils, winning five matches to Weston's one. RND's sparkling form continued in the afternoon fourballs and again they won five matches to one for an overall 10-2 result. North Devon League 3 ball team at Holsworthy

Royal North Devon sent two teams to Holsworthy for the NDL 3 ball team event. Team A consisting of captain Mark Luscombe, Ethan Jeffery and Kevin Rowe fared okay with 65 points with birdie machine Mark Luscombe scoring most of them. Team B consisting of Neil Armstrong, Shaun Loze and Andrew James fared better with a respectable 73 points and would have pushed the leaders if they played the par 3’s better.

Sally Brown Mixed Foursomes - A Prize giving!

The Sally Brown Foursomes was won on Saturday 14th August by Craig Brodie and Mary Harper, with a magnificent score of 48 points. President Mervyn Fudge presented the prizes along with the Ladies President’s Prize which was played in June and won by Carole Bewes with another excellent score of 48 points. This was the first prize giving at the club for many months due to Covid restrictions, and it was wonderful to see so many members and visitors in the clubhouse.

On sunday in perfect golfing conditions the final league fixture was played at RNDGC with neither the league winners nor relegation sorted so all to play for. First up for RNDGC was Paul Wilson who started poorly and only had 3 points after 3 but a 2 on the 5th kick started his round and he finished with 38 points. Triangular Match 2021 - Saunton vs East Devon & Royal North Devon

This year the annual Triangular match against East Devon and Saunton was hosted at Saunton on the East Course. Well done to Saunton golf club who took the win - Good scoring with 85% handicap and an easterly gusting up to 27mph and rough up to your knees! Next years match will be at RNDGC, selection will be available to those that support Club team golf. Palairet 2021 - Our best run for many years

The team had really high hopes for Palairet Memorial Trophy this year after putting out the current holders Teignmouth in the first round at Tiverton and then beating the strong team of Downes Crediton at Yelverton both matches by the narrow margins of 3.5 - 1.5. Liz Bird has been selected to play for Devon in the South West Women’s Inter-Club Championship which will be held at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club from Monday 5th July to Wednesday 7th July. Cornwall have decided to withdraw this year due to the Covid situation and Devon will play Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire in a series of round robin matches over three days. Huge congratulations to Liz and we wish her well next week.

Another Taylor's Course winner!

  Every fortnight from 4PM on a Wednesday is the Taylor's Course 7 hole competition. It only takes 45 minutes or so and often results in a bit of banter and a second round prior to a swift pint! The most recent winner was a very pleased with himself Charlie Allman, who managed to score a very respectable 17 points and wins himself £18, in second place was Sean Downing with 15 points (£13.50) with Richard Hughes in 3rd with 14 points (£9). How wonderful it was to return after the latest Covid lockdown to inter-club competitive golf on Sunday, with the ladies match against Saunton in the Annodata Match Play Competition played at RND. After the challenging scoring conditions at RND in the David Lloyd Salver Medal on Saturday the team headed North across the bay to a fantastically presented East course at Saunton on Sunday 25th April for the opening round of this season’s North Devon League.
