Palairet second round win Vs Downes Crediton

The 2021 Palairet Team have progressed to the 3rd Round for the first time in a few years after an excellent victory at Yelverton Vs Downes Crediton GC.

The Palairet season has been a challenge this year as there are lots of matches to play in a short time and after our win at Tiverton 3 weeks ago putting out the current title holders Teignmouth we had a tight match played at the lovely Dartmoor links of Yelverton.

The first group Tyler Yarde and "Pickle" Jones after their superb win on the 20th hole against Teignmouth unfortunately went down 3/2 to the opening group.

Our final group Kevin Rowe and Steve Flood were next to finish and even up the points with a 6/5 victory at the back of the field.

Mark Luscombe and Chris Hampton had an up and down match but they always felt they had control and  eventually ran out winners 4/2. 2 points from 2 matches for these two.

Sean Downing, just over 12 months on from his massive Stroke playing with Chris Brown pretty much always had a lead and they also kept their sheet clean after their second win in two matches, this time 3/2.

Martin and Ewan Butler don't like to make it easy for themselves and for the second match on the trot they fought back from 4 down to get to the 18th at 1 down and managed to secure a half. This time Martin played a superb bunker shot from the middle of the 18th fairway 156 yards to about 15feet from the flag which was enough to secure the half.

Final score was 3.5 - 1.5 and hopefully the same team will play Saunton next Sunday at East Devon GC.

Thanks to Ocean Tee Golf for providing the tees for the team for this season.

  • Very friendly place which still retains much of its Old world charm whilst moving into the modern times,. especially the standard and quality of the Restaurant and Social side of Golf Club Life. As far as my friends and I are concerned, It is the place to go.
  • Awesome golf course in an unreal setting and very well maintained, highly recommend playing here if you get the chance. Demanding but fair course that makes you think. If you’re getting a caddie ask for Dave, great guy who knows his stuff
