RND Host North Devon Tri Golf Festivals
NORTH DEVON TRI GOLF FESTIVALS -
It has been a busy month here at the club for welcoming new junior golfers.
We have been welcoming the stars of the future down to our venue and showcasing what RND has to offer.
We have been very fortunate to of been asked to host two Primary school sport festivals throughout the month of June.
The first event took place two weeks ago for years 3&4 children from various different primary schools in the area. With the second event taking place today for the slightly older children in years 5&6.
Over the course of the two events more than 200 children have been introduced to the game of golf. The majority of which had not had the opportunity to play the game before.
The festivals consisted of each school spending two hours here at the club, making use of the Taylor Course.
Myself and Josh have really enjoyed hosting the events and are already looking forward hosting next years festivals.
Josh and I designed four different skills stations for the children to complete. The stations included putting accuracy, chipping over bunkers, pitching over rivers and hitting the ball down the runway aka the fairway.
Once the children had completed all stations it was time to put it all into practice and give some real holes a try. Each Primary school completed 3 specifically designed holes on the Taylor `Course using the Texas Scramble format.
The format allowed all the children to work as a team and there was some great shots played.
The feedback from the schools was really positive. They were full of praise for the positive manor in which the festivals were run, on top of the fantastic facilities that RND has to offer young golfers.
All schools have already said they will be attending again next year.
We are also pleased to announce that we have started talks with a few of the schools to go in and deliver more sessions to different year groups later on in the year once COVID rules have been relaxed of course.
Stay posted for more news and updates on what we are doing as a club to grow the sport in the local area.
