Golfing Girls Generosity gifts £3000+ to North Devon Hospice

The golfing ladies at RND have been fundraising all year for the Captains charity, the North Devon Hospice. At a well-attended ladies AGM retiring captain Tania Wickham was delighted to hand over a cheque for £3,093.37 to Jess Burford-Redgrove, Community and Events Fundraiser at North Devon Hospice, on behalf of all the ladies. RND ladies win Killard Leavy Cup

A great win at the Killard Leavy Cup competition at Honiton Golf Club for ladies captain Tania Wickham and partner Pauline Marais. The Killard Leavy Cup is a foursomes, stableford competition run by DCVLGA for lady veterans. In tricky conditions the pair coped better than the rest of the field and were delighted with their win.  Congratulations Tania and Pauline, a fantastic achievement.

Yesterday the Sheelah Creasy team of ladies from RND travelled to Holsworthy to play in the quarter-finals at Holsworthy. This is a matchplay competition for handicaps 21 and above.  The weather was horrendous with gales and driving rain. RND were drawn against Teignmouth and despite a sterling effort from the ladies they narrowly lost the match 3/4. Coronation Foursomes Winners of the Coronation Foursomes at RND were Margaret Ellicott and Ruth Horn with 41 points. They now go through to the regional finals with their score being in the top 100 in the South West. Liz Bird - Ladies Club Champion 2019 The ladies club championships took place on 27 June 2019 with 19 ladies completing 36 holes on the day and a further 20 completing 18 holes. Friday marked the first home game of the Sheelah Creasy Bowl , a Devon ladies singles match play competition for handicaps 21-36. It was a chilly start but it soon warmed up with a light wind. The course proved a step too far for the Exeter ladies who found the tight lies, bunkers and rushes galore a tough call. The Ladies are delighted to have been able to donate the funds for this new air cleaner. The money came from the excess raised for our 150 th celebrations last year. Since then we have been looking for a suitable item we could buy for use by the whole club and we hope this air cleaner will be a huge benefit to us all. Friday marked the first match of the year for the Ladies Presidents Trophy team .This is a singles match play competition for ladies of handicap 20 and below. The match was against Ilfracombe and first out was Liz Blight v Jean Wills. Jean loves playing at  RND, always plays well and won the match. Next up was Jeans daughter Jo. The Still Cup, which is the Ladies singles scratch matchplay, started their season yesterday. We had a depleted team at Saunton missing Paula, Liz M and Gro. The weather was very windy and as they started teeing off it started to rain heavily. Liz Bird [5] lead the way playing in her debut for the Still Cup, her opponent was Abi Moyes. The ladies league matches got off to a successful start with the Devon league team beating Thurlestone Golf Club at RND on 1 st April. The team was made up of Trish Jordan, Pauline Marais, Anna Wright, Denise Evans, Val Cook, Alex Guy, Tania Wickham and Victoria Wheatley. Sunday the 6th January saw the annual Officers Installation Ceremony after The Lowis Cup Greensomes. Mrs Heather Gale who was President for 2018 handed the Presidents Medal over to Dr Dick Ford to start his year in office.
