Friday 16th August saw the Vets cross swords with Saunton on the East Course. Having tied the home leg 3 - 3 it looked like a tall order. However an outstanding result of 3.5 - 2.5 saw RND retain the Trophy which they had won in 2023.
On a hot and sultry day the latest round of the North Devon Vets League was played on Saunton East Course. The greens were slick and the rough penal. A strong group from RND were looking forward to locking horns with the other 3 teams and a tough battle was expected. They were not disappointed! It was obvious that keeping the ball on the fairways, or at least out of the thick rough was going to be key, and indeed that is how it turned out. Under the watchful eyes of the buzzards wheeling overhead...

On Monday 11th March the North Devon Vets League was resurrected with the first round being played at RND. On a beautifully sunny, if rather breezy day seven players each from RND, Holsworthy, Saunton and Torrington teed off on a journey towards the final to be held in August against the winner of a second group comprising Ilfracombe, Mortehoe, Libbaton and Portmore. The format was the best five of seven scores to count. A tight contest was expected and we were not disappointed. Ably led by Capt...
Congratulations to Cameron Weir, the Keith Seddon Trophy winner in this week’s Army Championships which were held at Saunton. Cam qualified for the knockout stages with a gutsy performance on the West course, in wet and windy conditions on Monday, where he finished 5th in the scratch stableford event. Moving to the blue tees on the East course he dug deep over two days to take victories on the 17th, 18th and 17th again to secure his place in the final against friend and fellow Scot Steve Canning...
Sunday 2nd July saw the much-anticipated 3rd round match between RND and Libbaton Golf Club held on the West Course at Saunton. In the preceding weeks to the fixture the course had been baked by the hot weather we have been having, but a downpour Friday saw the course softened up somewhat. However, what was gained by a softening of the ground was lost again due to the fairly strong wind blowing from the West increasing the difficulty level of what we all know is a pretty tough test of golf. Havi...

The team had really high hopes for Palairet Memorial Trophy this year after putting out the current holders Teignmouth in the first round at Tiverton and then beating the strong team of Downes Crediton at Yelverton both matches by the narrow margins of 3.5 - 1.5. The last time we won the trophy, a handicap foursomes matchplay Inter-Devon club knockout was in 1957. The matches are usually one a month starting in April and finishing in September. So it was off to East Devon GC for the third round,...

The team motto "Believe and Achieve “ proved successful, and we had a good day out on our fantastic course. &...

Thanks to all the supporters, caddies and most of all, the team members. The team members left to right are, Victoria Wheatley, Liz Bird, Liz McKay, Ruth Horn (non playin...
After the challenging scoring conditions at RND in the David Lloyd Salver Medal on Saturday the team headed North across the bay to a fantastically presented East course at Saunton on Sunday 25th April for the opening round of this season’s North Devon League. The strong easterly wind, 16mph but gusting what felt like 40, made keeping the ball in play off the tee and avoiding any treacherous downwind putts on a hard and fast course with some tricky pin positions very challenging. Chris Stu...

We teed off on a windy day under dark skies, boosted by the support of a number of caddies and spectators who came along to help cheer the team on. The first match saw Paul Wilson and Chris Drew fight it out in what was a close contest throughout. Giving 2 shots, the RND pair could never forge ahead in the match, which was extrem...
