Royal North Devon v Portmore - 26th June 2022 After all matches made it to at least the 17th hole, the High Handicap Team were beaten 2- 1 by Portmore. With changeable weather, and shots being given by our team, it was a challenging afternoon. However, the fixture was played in great spirits and both teams enjoyed reflecting on the matches over sandwiches afterwards. The team now has the consolation of playing in the High Handicap Plate and is looking forward to their next fixture
After losing 3 ½ to 1 ½ away on a dog legged tree lined course at Torquay Golf Club the previous week RNDGC Vets had the unenvious task of having to win outright on the return match at RND on Wednesday 18th May. Today RND played there 1st round of the Annodata matchplay against the Lion artisans at home. The Vets played Bigbury on Friday in the first round and first leg away at Bigbury. They came away with a two and a half each halved match with wins for Gary Fisher/Cliff Brown on debut. Also Tony Allin with Richard Stubbs recorded a win after making a special effort to play as he was a reserve and replaced David Miller who was unable to play due to flu. Event two of the Winter Foursomes Series took place on Sunday 2nd December on a blustery but thankfully dry day. The scoring was excellent with most pairs taking advantage of the scoring opportunities presented down wind, with today's event being played off the Red tees. Congratulations to Mark Lee and Shaun Smalldon who today won the first instalment of the 18/19 Winter Foursomes Series with an excellent 38 points. This winter will see the return of the RND Winter Foursomes order of merit, where players earn points based on their finishing position in each of 5 events scheduled from November to March (dates below).
