RND VETERANS v HOLSWORTHY

Monday 21st April 2025

The doughty warriors of Royal North Devon and Holsworthy, gathered to do battle on the links of RND. Sadly two players from Holsworthy decided they’d rather play in the bar at Holsworthy. So, 2 Matches were played as 3 balls. 

Thank you, Jodie, for typing up the team sheet and emailing all participants. 

On a bright sunny day (especially arranged) with the course looking its best, starting at 12:36 Alan Coles and I managed to, after some “alarums”, to turn an up and down match into an honourable half. Thank you, Alan!

Warriors all, Hurrell & Zukowski, Hall & Taylor, Fisher & Buxton, Jones & Juniper were successful in their endeavours. Sadly Russell & Roche suffered a narrow defeat. Due in the most part to Brian suffering a sudden onset of sciatica. Get well soon Brian. 

This left the result at the halfway stage 4½ to 1½ to RND. 

Well done everyone. 

The noise in the bar and at the dining table post-Match, shows that though competitive, these matches are enjoyable and played in the right spirit of the game. 

Nearest the Pin was won by Dale Hurrell for RNDGC, Pete Cobbledick for Holsworthy. Well done both. 

The Post Match Meal was as usual Excellent! 

Rachel supported by the folks in the kitchen, served up an excellent meal with their undoubted professionalism. Thank you all!!

So, now for the return Match at Holsworthy GC on the 16th of July at 11pm. Put it in your diaries Gentlemen.
