Ladies Captain’s Charity 2022/23 raised £3,235 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust

In November 2022 our Ladies Captain, Ruth Davies, chose the Devon Air Ambulance Trust as her charity.

DAAT celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2023. Significant progress has been achieved by the Charity over this period including the establishment of more than 190 community landing sites, the introduction of two critical care cars and the addition of a brand new H145 helicopter to their fleet. An online shop has also been launched - www.shopdaat.org.

It costs millions of pounds to operate the service each year -  more than 1,000 people have been assisted in our region by air or by road depending on weather conditions.  In 2021 they were tasked to 1900 missions, including 276 missions in the hours of darkness.

Despite there being few fund raising opportunities in the course of the year, on the day of the Ladies’ AGM, Ruth was able to present the DAAT representative with a cheque for the amazing sum of £3,235.

Ruth thanked all the members of the Ladies Section for their generosity and support and specifically acknowledged the tremendous effort made by Liz McKay and Paula Gibbs who kindly contributed over £2000 towards the total donation.

At the AGM following the presentation our new Ladies Captain, Liz Blight, held a vote on how money raised by the ladies should be used for the forthcoming year.  There was support again for DAAT with the ladies deciding that fund raising efforts should be split 50:50 between Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the cost of running the Ladies Section.
